Our client, a leading power, control systems, and automation engineering company, is seeking a Senior Functional Safety Engineer in their Houston, TX location. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that all team members maintain up-to-date and valid training and certifications, while also providing valuable recommendations for staff development. Your ability to uphold a high standard of professionalism and lead project team members to achieve project goals will be essential in maintaining effective client and quality assurance processes throughout projects.

Job Title: Senior Functional Safety Engineer
Location: Houston, TX

About the Role:

• Proficient in PLC/SIS programming and panel design, including the integration of PLC/SIS systems with DCS and auxiliary PLCs.
• Lead the commissioning/cutover process, conduct loop checks, and validate/test logic while providing startup assistance and troubleshooting support.
• Generate SRS (Safety Requirements Specification) documents using specialized Safety Lifecycle Management software packages such as exSILentia V3/V4, SILSolver, aeShield, or Safety Lifecycle Manager (SLM).
• Maintain compliance with the client's safety policies and procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
• Foster effective communication with clients, addressing their concerns and inputs while assisting in defining project needs and functional design to meet requirements.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in safety systems/control systems engineering and applications consulting.
• Possess higher level CFSE (Certified Functional Safety Expert) certifications or equivalent qualifications.
• Demonstrated expertise and technical knowledge in safety systems engineering and specifications development.
• Extensive experience in all aspects of safety lifecycle management, including PHA/LOPAs development, hazard identification, safeguard allocation, Independent Protection Layers (IPLs) allocation, Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS) creation, logic narrative development, and SIL (Safety Integrity Level) calculations.
• Experience in developing test and validation procedures for safety systems.
