Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Chemical Engineer to join one of the industry's most renowned chemical manufacturing companies based in Orlando, Florida . As a Senior Chemical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in driving the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes. You will lead teams, oversee large-scale engineering projects, and contribute to the company’s goal of producing high-quality products efficiently and cost-effectively, while adhering to the highest safety and compliance standards.
In this role, you will be heavily involved in formulation development , scale-up processes, and PFD (Process Flow Design) for a variety of chemical products, including fuels , additives, and specialty chemicals.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Design and Optimization:
- Develop, implement, and optimize advanced chemical manufacturing processes for the production of fuels, additives, and other specialty chemical products.
- Design Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and detailed process models for large-scale production systems.
- Improve existing processes by analyzing and modifying system designs, addressing bottlenecks, and optimizing overall efficiency, cost, and product quality.
- Oversee the scale-up process from pilot testing to full-scale production, ensuring smooth transition and seamless integration of new formulations into manufacturing.
Formulation Development:
- Lead the development and optimization of chemical formulations, ensuring they meet both performance and regulatory requirements for various products, including fuels , additives , and specialty chemicals .
- Apply principles of chemical engineering and chemistry to solve challenges in formulation stability, performance, and cost.
- Work closely with R&D teams to design and test new formulations, ensuring that all products meet customer specifications and industry standards.
Project Management:
- Lead large-scale engineering projects from conception through to completion, ensuring successful delivery within time and budget constraints.
- Develop detailed project plans, including resource allocation, scheduling, and budgeting, to ensure all milestones are met.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and ensure project deliverables meet the company’s strategic objectives and quality standards.
Technical Expertise:
- Apply advanced chemical engineering principles and techniques to tackle complex operational challenges.
- Lead research and development efforts to introduce innovative technologies and new processes into the organization, especially in the areas of fuels , formulation chemistry , and scale-up .
- Stay current with the latest advancements in chemical engineering, ensuring the application of best practices and cutting-edge solutions in your work.
Team Leadership and Collaboration:
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of junior engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Work closely with other departments, including manufacturing, quality control, R&D, and regulatory teams, to ensure seamless communication and process optimization.
- Serve as a technical leader and key point of contact for stakeholders within the organization, translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable information.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all processes comply with industry safety regulations, environmental standards, and company protocols.
- Lead initiatives to establish, refine, and enforce safety procedures that minimize risks and ensure the well-being of employees.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to maintain an accident-free and regulatory-compliant environment.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years in chemical engineering, with a strong emphasis on process design, formulation development, scale-up, and project management within the chemicals manufacturing industry .
- Management Background: Proven experience leading teams and managing large-scale projects in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of chemical engineering principles, including process design, heat/mass transfer, thermodynamics, and equipment optimization. Proficiency in PFDs , scale-up processes , and formulation chemistry .
- Safety & Compliance: Strong understanding of safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry compliance standards.
- Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to work in a collaborative environment and manage cross-functional teams.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with modern chemical manufacturing technologies, trends, and innovations, particularly in fuels , additives , and specialty chemicals .
