About the Office
The primary mission of the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) is to adjudicate immigration cases by fairly, expeditiously, and uniformly interpreting and administering the Nation's immigration laws. Under delegated authority from the Attorney General, EOIR conducts immigration court proceedings, appellate reviews, and administrative hearings.
The Office of the Chief Immigration Judge (OCIJ) is led by the Chief Immigration Judge, who establishes operating policies and oversees policy implementation for the immigration courts. OCIJ provides overall program direction and establishes priorities for approximately 750 immigration judges located in 74 immigration courts throughout the Nation.

Job Description
Interns will work under the direct supervision of Attorney Advisors and perform research and writing assignments for Immigration Judges. This internship offers an opportunity to develop research and writing skills and an understanding of immigration law as it relates to removal proceedings. Interns will have the opportunity to observe immigration court hearings and to become familiar with the Immigration and Nationality Act, the Code of Federal Regulations, and immigration case law set forth by the Board of Immigration Appeals, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Interns will perform duties such as listening to recorded hearings, writing memoranda of law, and drafting written decisions. Interns will be expected to produce work product that is (1) well-written, (2) well- researched, and (3) timely submitted. This internship is an in-person position.
Qualifications
Any United States citizen law student enrolled at least half-time and who has completed at least one semester of law school is eligible to apply.
Superior research and writing skills, an eye for detail, a desire to work as part of a small team of professionals, and a commitment to fairness and integrity in the administration of the immigration system are essential.
Prior knowledge of immigration law is helpful but not necessary.

Salary
